Our current pupil Abbie Leigh has been successfully published in Child and Family Law Quarterly, a leading journal in child and family law. The article is ‘A review of the current UK surrogacy laws, Law Commission recommendations, and suggestions for reform’ [2023] CFLQ 305.

The current laws on surrogacy in the UK are complex and challenging both from a legal and practical perspective. The article is a concise summary of the current UK surrogacy laws, and how they work in practice. It also tackles the question of whether surrogacy laws in the UK are fit for purpose especially where surrogacy is now recognised as an accepted way of building a family by the Department of Health and Social Care. An analysis of the Law Commission’s recommendations for the proposed new surrogacy laws and pathway is undertaken as well as an examination of other suggestions for reform.

Abbie Leigh is taking instructions in both civil and family law from 1st July 2024.
