The case (R vDM) involved a cut throat defence between two leading members of rival organised drug lines in the Hertfordshire area. The facts involved an alleged murder for gain where the prosecution were seeking a 30 year term of imprisonment on conviction at trial. The case was complicated by dying declarations favouring the co-defendant, complex DNA forensic evidence, CCTV ofthe killing and prison bad character evidence.
