Having completed a mixed family and criminal law pupillage at KBG Chambers, Georgina now practices exclusively in family law.
Georgina has been commended for her ability to work with clients and build an easy rapport with them at any stage of proceedings. Expertise
Public Law
Georgina regularly acts for parents, Guardians, and various Local Authorities at all stages of care proceedings. This includes during fact-finding hearings and contested removals, and matters involving issues of non-accidental injury, sexual abuse, and drug and alcohol abuse. Recently, Georgina has undertaken work on cases with jurisdictional issues within the UK and abroad. She has been described as having “rave reviews from the team” by an instructing Local Authority.
Private Law
Georgina represents parents at all stages of private law proceedings, working on cases involving international and national relocation and intractable contact and residence disputes. Often, the matters involve issues of serious domestic abuse where prohibited steps orders were required, or children who have complex additional needs.
Matrimonial Finance
Either through successfully negotiating consent orders at the Dispute Resolution stage or taking matters through to final hearings, Georgina has a growing practice in ancillary relief and financial remedy matters. Cases Georgina has been involved in have included complex family dynamics where restraining orders have been involved and contested ownership of self-employed businesses.
Injunctions
Georgina regularly acts for Applicants and Respondents at all stages of non-molestation and occupation order proceedings. Matters have included serious issues of domestic abuse, sexual abuse, and financial issues.
Qualifications
- Georgina currently assists in managing the Schools Consent Project in Devon and Cornwall, which provides education about the Sexual Offences Act 2003 in secondary schools.
- Within her criminal practice, Georgina undertook both prosecution and defence work, including becoming involved in a matter at the sentencing stage, where the client had been found guilty of intentional strangulation. Georgina successfully argued for a short, suspended sentence when the prosecution sought an immediate custodial one.
- Prior to joining KBG Chambers, Georgina worked as a family paralegal at a local Cornish firm, focusing on care proceedings. Additionally, she volunteered as an advocate with the School Exclusion Project, acting for children facing permanent exclusion from mainstream schools, often with complex learning needs.
- Georgina received an academic scholarship from Inner Temple to study the Bar Course with the Inns of Court College of Advocacy, having previously undertaken a Graduate Diploma in Law at City Law School, and a History BA (Hons) at the University of York.
