The Defendant was charged with causing the death of an 81-year old pedestrian whilst riding his motorbike in Plymouth. Earlier in the evening he had been witnessed driving aggressively, speeding, and pulling “wheelies” on the road. Whilst at the time of the collision the Defendant’s speed had reduced, the prosecution were able to demonstrate that his driving remained “dangerous”. The case involved expert evidence as well as evidence from over 10 witnesses. The jury returned a majority guilty verdict after 7 hours.
