Yvonne Sutherland

Yvonne successfully completed a general common law pupillage with King’s Bench Chambers and became a tenant in 2005. Since that time, Yvonne has established her practice specialising predominantly in family law which includes public law, private law and Ancillary Relief proceedings.

Children (Public law)

In public law, Yvonne represents local authorities, parents and guardians in the FPC, County Courts and High Court. Yvonne is instructed in a broad range of cases including emergency protection orders, child abduction, care cases, adoption, inter country adoptions and illegal inter country adoptions.

These cases have as their subject matter all forms of physical harm, emotional harm and mental illness. Many of the cases require an understanding of complex medical evidence both in relation to physical injury (shaken babies, sexual abuse etc.) and in relation to mental illness and personality disorders.
