Bethany Burnard

Bethany completed her pupillage in October 2022 with a focus in Family Law under the supervision of Deni Mathews and the Family Law team. Prior to completion of pupillage, Bethany worked for the police dealing with various civil claims against the Constabulary and for an international law firm in which she dealt with professional indemnity and directors and officers insurance claims. Bethany previously volunteered with the Personal Support Unit assisting litigants in person in representing themselves at court.

Bethany read law at the University of the West of England and achieved a First Class degree before continuing her studies to complete the BPTC in which she achieved a Very Competent. She was called to the Bar in July2021 by the Honourable Society of the Middle Temple. Bethany has recently completed her LLM Master of Laws.

Public Law

Bethany has experience acting for Local Authorities, parents and Guardians in care proceedings including cases involving neglect. Bethany has represented Local Authorities at Final Hearings and parents at interim contested hearings. Bethany strives to achieve the best outcome for her clients. Bethany seeks to continue to grow her Public Law practice.

Private Law

Bethany has experience in representing parents in Private Law proceedings where there are disputes relating to both residence and contact at all stages of proceedings including Final Hearings. Bethany has been instructed for Fact Finding Hearings involving allegations of domestic abuse including coercive and controlling behaviour. Bethany was successful in an appeal against the court’s decision following a Fact Finding Hearing. Bethany strives to achieve the best outcome for her clients. Bethany seeks to continue to grow her Private Law practice.

Bethany has experience in attending contested occupation and non-molestation order hearings, including representing those suffering or accused of perpetrating domestic abuse.

Matrimonial Finance

Bethany seeks to build and develop her practice infinancial remedies/ancillary relief matters. Bethany has acted for parties atall stages of proceedings from First Appointment Hearings through to FinalHearing. Bethany strives to achieve the best outcome for her clients throughher negotiation.
