Francesca secured an acquittal for her client who was charged with rape of a stranger. The trial involved a number of complexities due to the complainant's mental health at the time of offence, and at trial. Her client had mixed attendance at trial, failing to attend when he was due to give evidence, and the jury were directed accordingly. He had a recent previous conviction for a similar offence which was before the jury. Through careful cross examination Francesca was able to successfully challenge the prosecution case.
